Fire Sale (SOLD)

Since my other commitments have forced me to let puretones go, my previous stock of materials are no longer needed.

I decided to put them up for sale in ONE package only. If you want, you got to purchase the whole package. At the price i am asking, you can break up the package and still sell them for a new value.

Item List:

– 2 X Silver Switchcraft 3.5mm Plugs

– 3 X Pailiccs 3.5mm Plugs

– 8 X 3.5mm Neutrik Female Jacks

– 5 X 3.5mm Neutrik Male Plugs

– 3.5 feet of 0.5mm yellow Mundorf (Gold+Silver+Copper) wires

– 1mm and 0.5mm teflon insulation

– 2 coils of Johnson Mfg silver solder (silver content up to 4.7%, very hard to find in SG)

– 12 working docks, some spares and 2 half finished LODs

– A LOT of heat shrink tubings, and a lot of different sizes. There are even TRANSPARENT ADHESIVE tubings.

– 3.5 feet of 18AWG ALO SXC

My asking price for the whole package is 150 SGD. Knowledgeable buyers who know the item’s value would know i am asking at less than 50% of prevailing market price.

I have decided to end puretones, and cease making anymore LODs.

Apology

Hi everyone on the waiting list,

I got to apologise for my tardiness for the past 2 weeks or so. I was very affected by some relationship problems, and is in a perpetual state of low mood. 

I dont think its a good idea to deal with delicate stuff, and simply because i have no mood. 

Well, the dust has settled and the clouds has cleared. My relationship problems has been resolved, whats left is me getting over the relationship and move on. 

I will be working very hard to satisfy all orders this weekend. If you want to cancel, i would oblige. No questions ask.

LOD for DIYMod

Made this LOD for a DIY Mod. Just to share some pictures.

PureTones Basic released!

PureTones finally releases her official version of PureTones Basic!

I designed this LOD with new comers in mind.

In 2008, when i brought my first amp, the choices on the market were pretty limited. I was hard pressed to find a LOD that is made of high quality materials and has a reasonable price. The high quality LODs in the market are all of low value, some with prices bordering on the ridiculous. 

Not willing to be at the mercy of LOD makers, i became one myself. At the same time i swore to deliver value, to make LODs that are reasonably priced and within the reach of any new comers to the audio scene if they want it. The PureTones Basic model is the baby of this philosophy. 

To keep the cost down, the Basic is ; easy to make, made of easy to obtained materials, and of high quality and value. It may sound easy, but in  practice its a hard balance between cost and performance. After 2 working prototypes, i believe i got it right. In fact the cost of the prototypes are higher than the offical version.

In the offical version, the “live” wires are made of Mundorf wires. Mundorf wires are made of 99% silver and 1% gold. The “dead”, or ground, is made of silver plated copper. There are minimal audible differences and it keeps the cost down. Jack is made of high quality yet economical gold plated Neutrik plugs. Dock is the common one used in most other commerical LODs.

Right Angle Plug LOD

Maybe i should have used the Neutrik right angle instead of a switchcraft’s.

The only difference is i made mine using the low profile dock directly, without any cutting.

Creative Zen: Vision M Dock

Another experiment…

 

Mini-LOD?

Got a short piece of 18awg SXC left over.Since throwing it away is wasteful (it is EXPENSIVE), it has to be put to good use. The length is only good for a mini-dock, much like what as seen on other forums, however, i cant just follow them because… The SXC is thick. 

If you have the guts you can cut it even shorter. 😀

I was quite surprised… That the metal casing of the Neutrik is so thick…

Filled up the gaps with epoxy.

Disgusting, yeah i know.

Not very beautifully done. But it serves it purpose. 😀
